The short version

We are Edmonton based and work remotely with businesses across Newfoundland and Labrador, from St. John's to Corner Brook and Gander. Two things set NL apart for us: a time zone on the half hour, and health boards that want to see some ads before they run.

If you run a chiropractic clinic, every ad needs board approval first. Dental advertising should have approval too, and massage therapy ads have their own required wording. This page explains those rules and how we plan SEO and content around them.

How we work

Working on Newfoundland time

Newfoundland time runs on the half hour, so we double check every meeting invite and book calls in your local time.

Between calls we work by email and video, and you get a plain monthly report.

What is different in Newfoundland and Labrador

Privacy for NL clinic forms

PIPEDA covers most NL businesses. For clinics, the Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) covers regulated health professionals in private practice, including chiropractors, dentists, hearing aid practitioners, massage therapists and pharmacies.

  • Under PHIA, you must notify individuals of breaches and notify the Commissioner of material breaches.
  • The fewer health details a form collects, the less there is to protect, so our booking forms stick to what is needed to book.

Advertising rules for NL clinics

Newfoundland and Labrador regulators lean on prior approval and specific wording more than most.

  • Chiropractors

The NL Chiropractic Board rule is direct: "An advertisement in any medium shall first be approved by the board." No "discount" or "special rate" wording and no fee comparisons.

  • Pharmacies

The College of Pharmacy of NL bans testimonials and endorsements, and bans gifts or discounts that encourage prescription transfers, along with other inducement rules.

  • Massage therapists

The College of Massage Therapists of NL requires ads to name the RMTs and state membership in both the College and the association. No client testimonials, no resharing reviews, and no discounts or giveaways.

  • Audiologists and hearing aid practitioners

The College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of NL (policy 5-01) asks for truthful advertising with no guarantees or superiority. Hearing aid practitioners answer to the Hearing Aid Practitioners Board, and may not advertise hearing instrument prices, though time limited discounts are allowed.

  • Dentists

NL Dental Board By-Law 8 says advertising should have Board approval. Testimonials are not acceptable, and there are no coupons or rewards.

What this means for our work: we build board approval time into the schedule before chiropractic and dental ads go live, add the RMT names and both memberships to massage clinic ads, and never reshare reviews for massage clients.

Online sales and accessibility in NL

For distance sales, the Consumer Protection and Business Practices Act (sections 29 to 32) requires disclosure before the contract, a chance to correct errors, a copy within 15 days and cancellation rights.

The Accessibility Act (2021) allows future private sector standards, and customer service recommendations went to the Minister in February 2026, but nothing binds private businesses yet. We found no French requirement for private businesses.

NL listings and links

Check that your record in the NL Registry of Companies matches your Google profile and website.

In St. John's, The Board of Trade is the city's business network, and a matching member listing helps.
